SMS Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions govern the text-message (SMS) program operated by Homeowners Union (“we,” “us,” or “our”) for residents and members of homeowners associations (“HOAs”) that use our platform. By opting in to receive text messages from us, you agree to these terms.

Program description

When you opt in, we send account and community notifications to your mobile number on behalf of your HOA. These messages may include assessment (dues) reminders, meeting and election notices, violation and delinquency notices, maintenance and emergency-maintenance updates, general community announcements, and one-time phone-verification codes. The program is informational and transactional; it is not used for marketing or promotional messaging.

How to opt in

You opt in within the Homeowners Union resident portal: enable SMS notifications in your Communication Preferences, then confirm your mobile number by entering the one-time code we text to it. SMS notifications are off until you enable them and verify your number. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase or service.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies and depends on your community’s activity and your account (for example, when an assessment is due, a meeting is scheduled, or a notice applies to you).

Cost

Message and data rates may apply. Homeowners Union does not charge for the messages themselves, but your mobile carrier’s standard messaging and data rates apply according to your plan.

How to opt out (STOP)

You can cancel the SMS program at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by disabling SMS notifications in your Communication Preferences. After you reply STOP, we will send a single confirmation message and will not send further texts unless you opt back in. To resubscribe, reply START or re-enable SMS notifications in the application.

Supported carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery is subject to the availability and operation of your mobile carrier’s network.

Privacy

Your mobile number and opt-in data are handled as described in our Privacy Policy. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes; we share your mobile number only with our messaging provider, Twilio, solely to deliver these messages on our behalf.
